Gynemed Surgical Center is now accepting resumes for the following positions.

  • Physician
  • Registered Nurse
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Medical Assistant

Gynemed Surgical Center is seeking applicants who are willing to work efficiently, safely, and independently. Applicants need to work well as a team member and treat patients with care, compassion and professionalism.

All applicants must be comfortable working in a pro-choice, family planning surgical center.

The ability to speak Spanish would be helpful, but is not necessary

Physician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Perform surgical abortions up to 20 weeks of gestation
  2. Perform medical abortions up to 8 weeks of gestation
  3. Take calls after hours
  4. Be available for consultation by the Gynemed Staff at any time
  5. Maintain a medical license for the state of Maryland
  6. Maintain an Advance CardioVascular Life Support certificate (ACLS)
  7. Maintain hospital privileges at a nearby hospital

Registered Nurse responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Overseeing and logging all scheduled and non-scheduled narcotics used for anesthesia.
  2. Dispensing and logging medications.
  3. Starting IV's and administering fluids.
  4. Prepping patients for procedures, (e.g. placing leads on the patient, etc).
  5. Administering conscious sedation during surgical termination procedures.
  6. Perform crash cart evaluations each month and replenish stock.
  7. Work with the LPN in the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) to ensure all patients are recovering without incident, and that all vitals are checked and documented.
  8. Assist with the stocking, cleaning, and organization of all pre-op and surgical rooms.
  9. Maintain an Advance CardioVascular Life Support certificate (ACLS)
  10. Maintain a nursing license for the state of Maryland or a compact state license approved by the Maryland State Board of Nursing
  11. Graduated from an accredited nursing school
  12. Must have an active CPR certification
  13. Must have a full background check, with no criminal history

Licensed Practical Nurse responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) as the attending LPN and monitor patients for changes in condition.
  2. Work with the medical assistants to ensure vital signs are properly taken and logged.
  3. Work alongside the RN and assist with patient care as needed.
  4. Perform pre-operative assessments of patients.
  5. Assist the physician and RN during procedures if needed for cases of higher difficulty.
  6. Help stock supplies in the PACU, procedure, and pre-op rooms.
  7. Assist with the general cleaning of the facility.
  8. Graduate from an accredited LPN nursing school
  9. Maintain a nursing license for the state of Maryland or a compact state license approved by the Maryland State Board of Nursing
  10. Must have an active CPR certification
  11. Must have a full background check, with no criminal history

Medical Assistant "Front Office" responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Answer the main phone lines and schedule appointments.
  2. Assemble patient files.
  3. Provide patients with the appropriate preoperative materials.
  4. File patient files and other relevant paperwork.
  5. Make reminder and follow-up calls to patients.
  6. Verify patient's insurance information.
  7. Enter patient's information into the database system.
  8. Process patient payments the day of surgery.
  9. Assist with the cleaning of the facility including: bathrooms, waiting room, hallway, and any other area in need of cleaning.

Medical Assistant "Back Office" responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist the RN and LPN in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  2. Perform pre-operative vitals and review health history of patients.
  3. Perform pre-operative tests (pregnancy, RH, etc).
  4. Assembling patient antibiotics and discharge packets.
  5. Cleaning instruments after surgery.
  6. Wrap and autoclave instruments.
  7. Assist with the cleaning of the facility including: bathrooms, waiting room, hallway, and any other area in need of cleaning.
  8. Assist the Front Office staff with their duties during high volume surgical days.
